Digital x-ray company Nanox said that a new category III current procedural terminology (CPT) code for quantitative CT tissue characterization can be used with its HealthCCSng coronary artery calcium (CAC) AI software.
Developed by the company's Nanox.AI business (formerly Zebra Medical Vision), HealthCCSng is designed to identify previously undetected cardiovascular disease on nongated CT scans and enable earlier preventative treatment. The population health application categorizes patients into three risk categories based on the extent of CAC it has detected.
Radiologists, clinics, and health systems will be able to use the new CPT III code when performing chest CT scans after the code takes effect on July 1, according to the vendor.
