Siemens Medical Systems has introduced Uroskop Access, a fluoroscopic and digital radiographic urology system. Designed for high-utilization applications in diagnostic and interventional applications, Uroskop Access offers unrestricted and symmetrical patient access from every side of the table, according to the Iselin, NJ-based vendor.
Siemens said the unit's symmetrical patient access is an important benefit, eliminating the need for patient repositioning mid-procedure. The system also includes the vendor's syngo user interface and DICOM networking functionality, according to Siemens.
Uroskop Access is equipped with a high-power generator and a heavy-duty x-ray tube, according to Siemens. It also incorporates dose-reduction features contained in the firm's C.A.R.E. (Combined Applications to Reduce Exposure) initiative. The system can accommodate patients of all sizes: The table tilt and range of motion, plus or minus 90 degrees, allows the patient to be turned from a horizontal to a vertical orientation, either in a standing or sitting position, according to Siemens.
Uroskop Access' table, x-ray tube, and image intensifier are motorized and can be positioned independently, according to the company. Optional flat-screen color monitors are mounted on an articulated arm. Deliveries of Uroskop Access are expected to begin in November.
