Eastman Kodak Health Imaging has released new software features designed to enhance productivity and workflow of the firm's DirectView CR 800 and CR 900 systems.
One option, Remote Patient Data Entry Software (RPDES), allows patient demographic information to be entered from existing networked PCs equipped with Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher, according to the Rochester, NY-based vendor. As a result, a PC in the reception area could also function as a remote patient data entry system for the CR unit, according to Kodak. Administrative staff could then perform clerical functions such as patient data entry, therefore improving technologist productivity.
Other new software features include the ability to configure Remote Operation Panels (ROPs) to communicate with up to seven different CR 800 or CR 900 systems. This allows technologists to maximize productivity by selecting the most available CR system for image processing, according to Kodak.
Multi-format printing is now supported, allowing technologists to print images "two up" landscape or "four up" portrait on a single sheet of film. In addition, a printer status screen will display the status of any printer accessible from CR 800 or 900 systems. Users can customize worklist displays, and the forward slash key can be programmed to support U.S. military accession numbers.
RPDES will carry a list price of $1300, while other feature enhancements will be provided at no charge. Existing equipment can be upgraded during the next scheduled service call, according to the vendor.
Kodak has also included several optional features designed for the Japanese market. The software can provide communication between CR 800 and CR 900 systems and Japanese HIS/RIS networks, or remote patient data entry devices in non-HIS/RIS environments. A Japanese user interface, multiple text ID choices, and a Japanese keyboard mounting kit are included.
