ATLANTA - Multimodality vendor Toshiba America Medical Systems of Tustin, CA, is using this week's American College of Cardiology (ACC) meeting to launch Infinix DP-i/FD2, a vascular imaging system with two flat-panel digital detectors.
The new system is designed to enable users to easily conduct both cardiac and peripheral vascular studies on the same table without having to move the patient, according to the company. It combines a floor-mounted C-arm with an 8 x 8-inch flat-panel detector for cardiac work and a ceiling-mounted C-arm with a 12 x 16-inch detector for peripheral vascular studies.
The new Infinix system also includes a dual-PC processing system that permits background image processing and archiving without interrupting the exam. The system also has 20 frames-per-second fluoroscopy available as a tableside option, which effectively reduces patient radiation dose by 25% without reducing image quality, according to the company.
In other Toshiba ACC news, the company has received Food and Drug Administration clearance for its ZGV gradient package for the Excelart Vantage 1.5-tesla MRI scanner. Vantage ZGV offers a gradient strength of 33 mT/m (millitesla per meter) and a slew rate of 200 mT/m/msec (millitesla per meter per millisecond), and also features optional packages for cardiac imaging.
In addition to offering the configuration to new purchasers, Toshiba is making the ZGV available as an upgrade to Vantage users in the field.
