Computed radiography (CR) developer Alara has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance for its CRystalView R200 desktop CR system for general radiography applications.
CRystalView R200 boasts a 50 plates-per-hour throughput, and its compact, tabletop size is designed for small office practices, clinics, hospitals, and emergency departments. The complete system consists of a CR reader, multiple imaging plates, cassettes, QC workstation, and software, and includes features such as exam-based imaging protocols, calibrated exposure indicator tracking, and adjustable speed class. The unit is DICOM-compatible, and also has the European CE Mark, according to the Fremont, CA-based company
