Fujifilm Medical Systems USA of Stamford, CT, is launching a new computed radiography (CR) system at this week's meeting of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) in Providence, RI.
FCR XG2000 is a new version of the company's flagship FCR XG5000 CR reader. The new product is optimized for smaller facilities that want an option in between a tabletop CR and a high-volume reader, according to the company.
XG2000 features two cassette slots versus four available on XG5000. Both cassette slots on the new unit operate independently and are active simultaneously, and one can continue to be used if the other becomes jammed, according to the company. The reader also has a fast-scan mode that increases the processing speed for 14 x 17-inch and 14 x 14-inch imaging plates. The system began shipping in April.
In other CR news, the company announced that it has shipped the 100th unit of its FCRm computed radiography mammography offering. The unit received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in July 2006.
