The ability of CR and DR systems to deliver higher throughput and generate more revenues for healthcare facilities, high-resolution images from CR and DR systems, and lower radiation exposure for patients, are driving the future growth of digital imaging technologies.
A new study from market research firm Frost & Sullivan notes that while portable flat-panel detector systems are a notable development that "could possibly replace CR systems, their image quality needs to be examined and compared to that of the low-cost storage phosphor system."
One promising area of application for flat-panel systems, the report added, is fluoroscopy.
