Health Canada has issued a medical device license for Carestream Health's DRX-Revolution mobile x-ray system.
The license allows healthcare facilities in Canada to use the system. Carestream expects to start shipping the unit to Canada in June.
DRX-Revolution features a 32-kW generator, DRX detector, and software that allows radiographers to align the tube with a grid, according to Carestream. The unit also offers a long tube head reach, which allows radiographers to more easily perform x-ray exams, despite the crowded presence of bedside medical equipment. The system has a main 19-inch monitor and an 8-inch tube head monitor to provide two work zones, Carestream said.
Carestream's DRX-Revolution mobile x-ray system is pending Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance in the U.S.
