Imaging technology developer Omega Medical Imaging has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for the use of the firm's FluoroShield artificial intelligence radiation reduction technology with its 2020 cardiac flat-panel detector.
FluoroShield enables autocollimation during interventional fluoroscopy or cine cases while maintaining a perspective of surrounding anatomy, according to the firm. The peripheral area of the image is refreshed at a rate of once or twice per second, yielding a blended image that combines live fluoroscopy or cine imaging of the region of interest with the background area of the image that's viewed at a reduced exposure, the vendor stated.
