Mobile health services provider DocGo and portable digital x-ray developer MinXray have launched a program in New York City to help identify active tuberculosis (TB) cases in vulnerable populations.
Under the program, DocGo's mobile units will be equipped with MinXray's portable, battery powered x-ray systems to offer chest x-rays for patients who test positive for TB via blood tests.
According to a recent report, there were 684 confirmed cases of active TB identified in New York City in 2023, a 28% increase from 2022. The TB incidence rate was 7.8 per 100,000, more than two and a half times higher than the national TB rate.
The program is designed to deliver fast and efficient services, with rapid response crucial in managing and treating TB effectively, particularly in high-risk populations, company officials noted.
