AngioDynamics debuts new biliary stent

E-Z-EM subsidiary AngioDynamics has introduced its OmniFlex 15-mm biliary stent. Combining a balloon-expandable stent system with a low-profile platinum stent, OmniFlex's construction offers no potential allergic response to nickel, according to Queensbury, NY-based AngioDynamics. OmniFlex has virtually no foreshortening upon initial deployment, which, aided by the stent's visibility, allows for accurate placement, the firm said.

Thanks to its platinum material and design characteristics, OmniFlex is compatible with MR angiography procedures, according to AngioDynamics. The firm believes the nonferromagnetic nature of OmniFlex produces significantly fewer artifacts than stainless steel or nitinol stents during MRA studies. OmniFlex is available in 5-mm, 6-mm, 7-mm, and 8-mm stent diameters.
