Siemens Healthineers and Cook Medical have struck up a partnership to develop a new platform for interventional medicine.
Called Interventional MRI (iMRI) Suite, the ionizing radiation-free platform will combine Siemens' real-time MRI technology with Cook Medical's interventional procedure expertise, as well as new medical devices that Cook will develop specifically for MRI, according to the two firms. It will help clinicians diagnose, plan, and perform minimally invasive procedures, they said.
Cook Medical launched its Interventional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (iMRI) division in July of this year.
iMRI is under development and is not yet available in the U.S., Siemens and Cook Medical noted.
