Boston Scientific gets CE Mark for FilterWire

Interventional device developer Boston Scientific has received the European CE Mark for carotid applications of its FilterWire EX embolic protection device. FilterWire EX had received the CE Mark for coronary and saphenous vein graft (SVG) applications earlier this year, and was cleared for use in the peripheral circulatory system in October.

FilterWire EX is designed to reduce complications by capturing embolic material dislodged during angioplasty and vascular intervention procedures, according to the Natick, MA-based firm.
