Cook gets OK to test new vascular stent

Interventional firm Cook has received an investigational device exemption (IDE) from the Food and Drug Administration to begin testing its Zilver vascular stent. The stent will be used initially to treat symptomatic vascular disease of the iliac arteries on 20 patients at four medical institutions initially, according to the Bloomington, IN-based vendor. Cook is planning to expand the study to 150 patients at up to 20 investigational sites.
