Medtronic infringement ruling reversed

Medtronic said that the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware has reversed its prior summary judgment ruling finding that the company's S7 and Driver coronary stent products infringed one claim of Guidant's Lau patent.

Other decisions issued by the court on January 5 were unaffected by the ruling, according to Minneapolis-based Medtronic. A jury trial on Medtronic's claim that the Lau patents are invalid is expected to begin February 7. The trial will determine issues of infringement, as well as invalidity of the asserted Lau patents, Medtronic said.
