FDA clears Siemens' smaller US catheter

Multimodality vendor Siemens Medical Solutions has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its Acuson AcuNav 8F ultrasound catheter, which is 33% smaller than the AcuNav 10F catheter.

The smaller catheter allows improved access, particularly in smaller patients for left heart applications in electrophysiology and interventional cardiology, according to the Malvern, PA-based Siemens.
