A federal court jury in Wilmington, DE, has found that several stents manufactured by Boston Scientific of Natick, MA, infringe on patents held by Johnson & Johnson's Cordis subsidiary.
Specifically, the jury determined that Boston Scientific's drug-eluting Taxus stent and its bare metal Express and Liberté stents infringe on Cordis' Palmaz stent patent, according to J&J. The Liberté stent was also found to infringe on another patent held by J&J.
Boston Scientific stated that it is likely to appeal the jury verdict. A new jury will convene in August to determine any damages owed and whether the infringement was willful.
