Suros gets CE Mark for ATEC

Interventional technology developer Suros Surgical Systems has received the European CE Mark for its ATEC breast biopsy and excision system and ATEC TriMark biopsy site identification system.

The Indianapolis-based firm expects to sell its first ATEC system for use with stereotactic x-ray and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy in January 2006.

The ATEC system uses Suros' Pearl and Sapphire console units, all biopsy devices, and the ATEC TriMark marker system for postbiopsy site identification. ATEC Pearl is designed for stereotactic and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy, while ATEC Sapphire is designed for use with stereotactic, ultrasound, and MRI modalities.
