Medical device developer Medtronic has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance for its AneuRx AAAdvantage abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) stent graft with Xcelerant delivery system.
The system features a low profile and a wider range of lengths, diameters, and other enhancements that allow broader patient applicability than prior Medtronic devices, according to the Minneapolis-based firm.
Enhancements include potentially broader proximal and distal sealing areas due to longer aortic bodies, longer and larger straight iliac limbs, and flared iliac limbs and extensions, Medtronic said. The system also includes improved radiopaque markers and contoured stents, according to the company.
