Multimodality vendor Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, PA, and MRI-compatible device firm Biophan Technologies of West Henrietta, NY, have begun negotiations on a relationship to develop interventional MRI products.
Siemens is in discussions with Biophan's Biophan Europe subsidiary. The companies believe they have complementary technologies, with Biophan focusing on technologies that can enable MRI to visualize the interiors of stents and implants, and enable MRI-guided implantation of devices. Siemens' 1.5-tesla ultrashort-bore Magnetom Espree scanner is well-suited for interventional procedures, the companies said.
