Medtronic sues Kyphon

The vascular and spinal businesses of medical device developer Medtronic have sued Kyphon for patent infringement.

The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in Santa Rosa, claims Kyphon is, and has been, directly and indirectly infringing on a minimum of four patents related to balloon dilatation catheters and spinal treatment, according to Medtronic of Minneapolis. Medtronic is seeking injunctive relief and monetary damages.
