Interventional device developers Boston Scientific of Natick, MA, and Abbott Laboratories of Abbott Park, IL, reported that they have received antitrust clearance from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for their proposed acquisition of Indianapolis-based Guidant.
Boston Scientific and Abbott said that the FTC has granted early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976.
Boston Scientific, Abbott, and Guidant intend to close the transaction on April 21.
