Cordis unveils next-generation transhepatic biliary stent

Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Biologics Delivery Systems Group, Cordis of Miami Lakes, FL, has added to its Palmaz Blue biliary stent line with a 0.014 transhepatic biliary stent, featuring balloon-expandable stent delivery technology, to treat biliary blockages.

The device features a cobalt chromium alloy enhanced with tungsten, designed to provide physicians with increased strength, radiopacity, flexibility, and deliverability, according to Cordis. The delivery system also has been designed to lessen overall procedure time, the company said.
