GE inks deal with ACC

GE Healthcare has signed an agreement with the American College of Cardiology (ACC). The Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based vendor will be developing software for the ACC National Cardiovascular Data Registry (ACC-NCDR) Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) registry, allowing institutions to send procedure data to the ACC-NCDR.

In related developments, GE has debuted new electronic forms designed to expedite institutions' participation in the registry. The forms, a new feature on the MacLab hemodynamic monitoring and CardioLab electrophysiology monitoring systems, provide for point-of-care data collection of ICD data for download to the registry, GE said.

GE said it anticipates that the ACC-NCDR ICD registry software will be certified during the fourth quarter of 2006.
