Disposable products developer Merit Medical Systems has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its Maestro microcatheter.
Microcatheters are used to deliver diagnostic, embolic, and therapeutic materials to treat uterine fibroids, hypervascularized tumors, and vascular malformations, according to the South Jordan, UT-based firm. Merit said it will introduce Maestro to the U.S. market during the first quarter of 2009.
