Hansen wins Houston contract

Robotic technology developer Hansen Medical of Mountain View, CA, has sold an additional catheter system to a Houston heart and vascular center, the company said.

Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center has purchased its third Sensei X robotic catheter system. Methodist has also opened a new vascular research laboratory, where physicians will use Sensei X and other robotics technology to research preclinical capabilities in vascular surgery.

Hansen Medical also selected Methodist to be a center of excellence where physicians from around the globe can be trained on flexible robotics in a high-volume electrophysiology lab. The new center began operation in December.
