Radiopharmacy firm Syncor International reported a 25% increase in third-quarter operating income, to $15.4 million, up from $12.3 million for the same period last year. Net income increased 24%, to $7.8 million for the quarter (end-September 30), compared to $6.3 million for the same period last year. Net sales for the third quarter increased by 24.7% to $193.8 million, up from $155.5 million for same period of last year.
The Woodland Hills, CA, company signed an agreement in the third quarter with Eli Lilly to distribute its new sepsis-fighting drug, Xigris, on an emergency basis when the drug receives FDA approval. Syncor also made three strategic acquisitions during the quarter that company officials said broadened Syncor’s customer base and markets.
