Scintimammography developer Dilon Technologies said that recent research found that its breast-specific gamma imaging (BSGI) technology led to a reduction of unnecessary biopsies when compared with MRI.
The research, conducted by CHW - Nevada Imaging Centers in Las Vegas, found that BSGI could eliminate the need for 50% of biopsies or possibly change a patient's decision to have more radical surgery, according to Dilon of Newport News, VA. The results were presented at the National Interdisciplinary Breast Center Conference in Las Vegas.
