MDS Nordion of Ottawa has inked a deal to sell its Analytical Technologies business to Danaher for $650 million in cash.
In order to focus solely on its MDS Nordion medical isotope business, the firm said it also intends to sell its MDS Pharma Services business. The decisions were made following a comprehensive strategic review by a special committee of independent directors working with management and financial and legal advisors, MDS said.
The completion of the Analytical Technologies sale is subject to shareholder and regulatory approval and other closing conditions. MDS said it currently intends to return approximately $400 million to $450 million of the sale proceeds to its shareholders.
