Molecular imaging vendor Positron said that it will focus on marketing and selling its PET offerings throughout all Canadian provinces.
Positron of Fishers, IN, said that the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care of Ontario has made PET scanning a publicly insured health service available to cancer and cardiac patients in indications where PET has been proved clinically effective. This development represents a significant opportunity for the company to offer a cost-effective, general-purpose scanner into a large socialized healthcare network, said chief technical officer Joe Oliverio.
Positron estimates the potential of the Canadian PET market to be approximately 1,000 scanners.
