Siemens Healthcare PETNet Solutions has signed a deal to supply fluorine-18 sodium fluoride (F-18 NaF) and investigational fluorine-18 fluorothymidine (F-18 FLT) to the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN) for use in clinical trials.
Availability of F-18 NaF and F-18 FLT will be made using a cross-reference system between Siemens drug master files and the National Cancer Institute's centralized investigational new drugs (INDs) system, through which the ACRIN trial will be performed.
F-18 FLT is used in PET studies to monitor proliferation of cancer cells and F-18 NaF will be studied for the detection of bony metastases. This cross-reference model permits both products to be produced and used by any principal investigator in an ACRIN clinical trial, according to Siemens of Malvern, PA.
