Nordion to divest MDS Nordion Belgium operations

Nordion announced it has signed a nonbinding letter of agreement with Best Medical International of Springfield, VA, for the divestiture of the Fleurus, Belgium, operations of MDS Nordion of Ottawa, Ontario.

The agreement for the divestiture will include three MDS Nordion lines of business, including the Glucotrace FDG imaging agent and the generic cyclotron and reactor isotope lines, and exclude the TheraSphere business, which will be retained by Nordion, the company announced.

Nordion expects that proceeds received for the divested operations will be nominal, and that it will leave sufficient working capital in the business to support its operations through an initial transition period.

During this process, MDS Nordion remains focused on continuing to deliver quality product to its customers and managing the business operations, the company said.

Best Medical designs, distributes, and manufactures radiation products for the oncology, urology, neurology, and gynecology markets.
