Bracco Diagnostics anticipates it will have supplies of Kinevac commercially available in the third quarter of 2014.
In a May 23 letter to customers, Bracco said there are several orders on back order and those requests will be partially fulfilled. Kinevac is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for stimulating gallbladder contraction in imaging procedures, among other indications.
According to Bracco, the shortage originates with its Kinevac manufacturer, which remains in an extended shutdown as part of a maintenance cycle.
