WMIS honors Gillies with Gold Medal award

The World Molecular Imaging Society (WMIS) has given Robert Gillies, PhD, its highest honor -- the Gold Medal.

The 2018 Gold Medal was presented to Gillies at the recent World Molecular Imaging Congress in Seattle for his contributions to the field of molecular imaging, according to the WMIS.

The society credited Gillies with research that led to a new understanding of the development and progression of cancer, as well as new cancer treatment options. Gillies currently serves as chair of the department of cancer physiology and vice chair of radiology research at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL.
