Constrast injector firm Medrad has enhanced its Spectris MR injection system by adding a sharper spike for loading contrast media. The Indianola, PA-based firm has also added an integrated back check valve on the low-pressure tubing. Medrad believes these two features will save injector set-up time during MR procedures.
In addition to the larger spike for loading saline, the new kit includes a smaller, sharper spike to efficiently pierce the rubber stopper and streamline the loading of gadolinium contrast into the syringe, according to Medrad.
The low-pressure connector tubing in the kit has also been upgraded to include an integrated back check valve, eliminating the need to attach the loose check valve to the tubing during setup, according to the firm. Check valves prevent contrast and saline from mixing during an injection.
