Niche MRI developer Magna-Lab has retained healthcare consulting firm Covance Health Economics and Outcomes Services (CHEOS) to provide economic marketing and reimbursement strategy development for the Syosset, NY-based vendor's Cardiac View transesophegeal MRI probe.
The CHEOS study will involve a comprehensive review of the issues involved in obtaining optimal reimbursement for MRI procedures utilizing the Cardiac View product, according to Magna-Lab. The study will include interviews of cardiology administrators and cardiologists, as well as extensive studies of the practices of private and third-party payors and the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) in reimbursing MRI procedures and procedures to diagnose heart disease.
Among the results of the study will be recommendations on gaining optimal reimbursement for procedures using Cardiac View, according to Magna-Lab. In addition, the study will provide Magna-Lab with a plan and timeframe for pursuing unique codes, coverage, and payment for Cardiac View in the treatment of heart disease.
