Ultra-high-field MRI will be at the top of this German vendor’s agenda, with the company showcasing its Magnetom Trio whole-body 3-tesla system.
Trio features eight 1-MHz RF channels in its standard configuration, which helps improve the performance of the company’s iPAT parallel acquisition technology at 3 tesla. When used with single-shot imaging protocols, iPAT can help reduce blurring and susceptibility artifacts, such as those at the base of the skull, according to the company.
Magnetom Trio also features 3T Care, the company’s technique for reducing the incidence of specific absorption rate (SAR), a frequent problem when scanning at ultra-high field strengths. The company claims that 3T Care can reduce SAR by up to 75%.
Siemens said that clinical applications for the scanner include small vascular pathologies, musculoskeletal diseases, tumors, and cardiac testing.
