Confirma to unveil breast MRI coil at RSNA show

Computer-aided detection (CAD) company Confirma has introduced the Access breast coil. The work-in-progress device boasts multichannel phased-array coil architecture, allows for both bilateral and unilateral imaging, and provides parallel imaging of the chest wall, breast, and auxiliary tissue.

Confirma designed Access with particular emphasis on parallel imaging, which can cut MRI scan time by optimizing its phased-array coils operated by multiple receivers, according to the Kirkland, WA-based firm.

For interventional radiology, Access allows users to perform procedures from the lateral, medial, and cranial-caudal directions. The device incorporates a lighting system for use during interventional procedures, and supports all needle gauge sizes and vacuum-assisted biopsy systems. It can also help clinicians with breast stabilization and needle positioning. Access is compatible with 1.5-tesla MRI scanners from Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, PA.
