(Booth 3249) The Safescan division of Mednovus will demonstrate its line of ferromagnetic detection products, designed to prevent accidents in MRI suites.
In 2007 the company introduced its line of Safescan MRI Sentinel GS ferromagnetic detection portals, including the Safescan Entry Sentinel GS and Patient Sentinel GS. The systems are not metal detectors, according to the company, but rather emit alarms when ferromagnetic threats are encountered. Mednovus said they do not emit electromagnetic radiation, and will not affect magnet shim or erase credit cards.
Also look for the company to discuss its research project under way with the National Research Council, Canada, and its receipt of U.S. National Institutes of Health funding for the development of new products for MR safety.
