Paramed Medical Systems

(Booth 9139) Paramed Medical Systems of Genoa, Italy, will tout its recently cleared MRopen 0.5-tesla scanner, a cryogen-free, superconductive MRI system.

In May 2008, Paramed received U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance for the system, which features wire material made of magnesium diboride (MgB₂), an alloy with superconductive characteristics at temperatures that can be reached with a traditional cooling system.

MRopen does not require liquid helium or other cryogenic gases, and is configured in a U-shaped design for patient comfort.
