Sound system developer Optoacoustics will unveil the third generation of its noise-canceling optical microphone at the 2009 RSNA conference.
The FOMR-III fiber-optic microphone is a dual-channel microphone available for use in functional MRI (fMRI) studies.
It is designed to permit researchers and clinicians to clearly hear what is said inside the magnet bore during the scan, in addition to synchronizing real-time speech to TTL (transistor-transistor logic) signals, according to the Or-Yehuda, Israel-based firm. With a built-in console speaker and simplified controls, FOMR-III is considered a "plug-and-play" system.
