ACR revises supervising guidelines

After receiving comments from members about continuing experience requirements for CT, MRI, and ultrasound, the American College of Radiology (ACR) has revised its requirements for physicians supervising and/or interpreting these exams.

The Reston, VA-based organization now stipulates that physicians must have read an average of nine exams per month for each modality over the prior 36-month period.

For physicians reading organ-system-specific exams across multiple modalities, they must read a minimum of 60 organ-system-specific exams per modality in 36 months. However, they must also read a total of 200 cross-sectional imaging studies over the prior 36 months.
