MRI technology developer NeuroGrafix announced that it has executed a stipulation in which the University of California (UC) Regents has agreed to appear in federal district court to respond to patent infringement allegations.
The company initiated a lawsuit against the University of California in October 2010, alleging that the university system is infringing on the company's patents for MRI neurography technology. The technology makes nerves visible in MRI scans and is also used for diffusion anistropy imaging, which allows for fiber tracts inside the human brain to be visualized and avoided during brain surgery.
NeuroGrafix is also engaged in patent litigation against Siemens Healthcare.
