The American College of Radiology's (ACR) Committee on Breast MRI Accreditation has updated the program's requirements to help facilities comply with the upcoming deadline of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA).
Changes include a stipulation that facilities no longer have to submit a negative breast MRI case with their accreditation application. Facilities also must submit only one case with a known, enhancing, biopsy-proven carcinoma clearly visible in the breast parenchyma.
The accreditation program revisions went into effect on September 26.
