An imaging center chain offering $600 MRI scans has raised $6.5 million in capital to fund its national expansion push.
The fundraising for Smart Choice MRI included an investment by Milwaukee-based F Street Capital, which led the financing round with $2.5 million.
The funds will help fuel a national expansion plan that kicks off in Chicago as Smart Choice MRI explores additional markets, the firm said. With six clinics to date, Smart Choice MRI will now be able to expand its footprint outside of Wisconsin, the company said.
It is offering MRI scans for $600 each, seeking to tap into a healthcare environment in which consumers must increasingly pay more out of pocket for their medical care. The average MRI cost is $2,948, according to figures from the Wisconsin Hospital Association cited by Smart Choice MRI.
