The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, will be the first medical center in North America to have access to the Magnetom Terra, Siemens Healthineers' 7-tesla MRI scanner, for use in a clinical setting.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently gave Siemens clearance to market Magnetom Terra for clinical use to scan the head and knee. The scanner is indicated for advanced neurological and musculoskeletal imaging, with resolution high enough to visualize small lesions in the brain, fine details of various tissues of the knee, and the anatomic source of seizures, according to Siemens.
