Royal Philips, the parent company of Philips Healthcare, has launched the latest addition to its Ingenia MRI portfolio: the Ingenia Ambition X 1.5-tesla MRI scanner.
The scanner is equipped with BlueSeal magnet technology, which seals helium directly into the magnet, thereby reducing the amount of liquid helium required to cool the scanner to less than half a percent of what is needed for conventional scanners, according to Philips. The fully sealed scanner does not require a vent pipe and weighs approximately 900 kg (1,984 lb) less than the previous model.
Ingenia Ambition X combines guided patient setup and SmartExam analytics to allow for automatic planning, scanning, and processing, the company said. The scanner also includes Philips' Compressed SENSE application for speeding up exam times, as well as VitalEye technology to detect patient physiology and breathing movement during setup.
Philips recently installed Ingenia Ambition X at Spital Uster Hospital in Zurich. The MRI scanner has the CE Mark and has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
