United Imaging has garnered U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its uMR Omega ultrawide-bore 3-tesla MRI scanner.

Image courtesy of United Imaging.Featuring a 75-cm bore and a 680-lb weight capacity, uMR Omega is designed to accommodate a wide range of patients, according to the vendor. United Imaging is also highlighting the benefits of the scanner's fast scanning times for pediatric and geriatric patients.
What's more, the system can support acute imaging in the emergency room with a five-minute stroke protocol, as well as provide cardiac imaging with a single breath-hold, the company said.
United Imaging said it would install uMR Omega in its Houston showroom facility this summer.
