Canon Medical Systems USA is touting the results of a head-to-head experiment demonstrating that the company's new data reconstruction technology for its 1.5-tesla MRI scanner can produce images comparable to conventional 3-tesla MRI images.
The company put the Vantage Orian 1.5T MR with advanced clear-IQ engine (AiCE) reconstruction to the test in the AiCE Challenge, which asked radiologists and technologists to differentiate between images acquired with and without AiCE. The 1.5-tesla scanner features deep-learning reconstruction technology that results in high signal-to-noise ratio, Canon noted.
Radiologists participating in the AiCE Challenge had difficulty differentiating between 1.5-tesla MRI images acquired with AiCE and 3-tesla images acquired with the same acquisition protocol but not AiCE. Half of the radiologists picked 1.5-tesla MR with AiCE over 3 tesla, Canon noted.
Canon will showcase the Vantage Orian 1.5T MR system during the upcoming RSNA meeting taking place from November 29 to December 5. It will also debut an expanded version of the AiCE Challenge.
