Varian names Thorson to VP post

Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems has hired John "Andy" Anderson Thorson II as vice president of new business development, Varian announced today. Thorson, who comes to the Palo Alto, CA-based firm from a position as director and partner of Pegasus Capital, will head up Varian's plans for growth through the acquisition of businesses that complement the vendor's presence in cancer care and medical imaging subsystems. Thorson will report to Varian president and CEO Richard Levy.
